What tier of college do you think I'll go to?

  • 3.3 unweighted
  • 3.7 weighted
  • student council treasurer
  • member of the baseball team
  • member of the football team
  • member of the Jerseyan history club
  • 160 hours of community service

With all of this being said I am in my freshman year of high school, my GPA will definitely be improving, what kind of college does it look like I am projected to go to? I don’t take any ap classes, but plan to be taking some by junior year. Is junior year too late? I am taking the SATs next year and my psat score was a 990. I really have my mind moving toward an ivy or top tier college. I like the idea of going to something like Pepperdine university, or perdue. I would like to study in the field of computer science. If I keep up the extra curricular activities and and get my GPA up to maybe a 3.6 unweighted what are some colleges do you think I could go to? I am really looking at Pepperdine university. What are my chances?

Scores? how good are you at your sports? D1 material?

You are a Freshman so stop worrying about what colleges and do your best in school. Find some EC’s that your are interested in, look for leadership positions, prep for the SAT/ACT and come back at the end of Junior year. Also very important, find out how much your parents will pay/year? Run the Net Price Calculators (NPC) on any schools of interest and find out how much FA/merit aid you may receive if needed. Many merit scholarships have early Senior year deadlines, so if you are in need of money for college, you can get a head start on the search.

Good Luck…

If you’re not taking AP’s what is pulling your weighted GPA up by so much? In terms of GPA a .4 is a pretty big difference without APs.

I don’t know whats pulling my grade up that much I talked to my guidance counselor and got the information from her. And i wouldn’t say I’m bad by any means at sports and I think I have potential by maybe junior year to be d1 material. And yeah I was looking into the cost of colleges too and that isn’t too much of my worries right now.

I would start APs by next year to bring your GPA up, even if it’s an “easy” one. Good luck.
