what to do next...after the decision is made

So, do we email the music department's admissions office of the schools she is not attending? Do we have to do anything more? And of course post the decision on CC.

And then we pay the housing deposit and do dorm selection and sign up for orientations, etc...

Cross one thing off your list and add three things on to it. I keep thinking that I am going to forget to do something important.

My d has been sending back the official postcard or forms to the schools that she is not attending, or going online to decline admission.

She has also been sending emails or hand-written notes to studio teachers - regardless of whether she was accepted, waitlisted or rejected. This may or may not be appropriate for your daughter’s situation.

Once she commits, she’ll buy a t-shirt or sweatpants or lounge pants from the school she’ll be attending - I think there’s a tradition at the local hs where the seniors wear their college-garb on a specified day.

Okay, so now I will put something else on my list of things to do…read again (carefully) the paperwork we received from each of the schools about accepting and declining offers. I seem to remember them saying please let us know so we if you are declining so we can give others a spot…I will look for something more.

I don’t know about any tradition of wearing college garb at the HS but I love the idea.

At our high school, they wear their college shirts on May 2nd.

Yes, please do let the schools you’re not attending know as soon as you can. You could be helping someone on their wait list attend their dream school if your spot opens up.
