I sent in most of my college decisions in this past week, and I can’t stop thinking about it. I keep looking at admissions statistics and trying to calculate my chance at getting in. Does anyone have any tips for what to do to stop thinking about this all the time?
Enjoy your second semester! I’m totally in the same boat as you are but at least for me, starting in the end of January (when our second semester begins) I’ll have the kind of academic and personal freedom to basically do whatever I want. I can get low B’s in my classes and be fine! I can spend time with friends! I can be stress-free even in the face of bad test scores!
Obviously these aren’t the best academic decisions to make, but so many of us have been working practically nonstop for the past 4 years (at least) to get to where we are right now, and I’m gonna try my best to live up my second semester of senior year as much as I possibly can.
Try yoga, go for a run or play some fortnite. Meditation is great too. If you are feeling anxious or impatient, turn to YouTube and put on a good meditation tape.
Journaling or a diary about your experiences is also healthy. And can make you ready for a good night sleep.
Clean the bathroom, vacuum, ask your parents if they need any help with anything-same for siblings.
@ladyconstellation @privatebanker @lostaccount Thank you guys! I will definitely try these.
stop thinking about the college apps bc you already submitted everything and whatever happens, happens. just be relieved its basically over lol
Things to do:
- Read
- Binge watch bad TV programs,
- Go out to movies with friends,
- Do whatever homework you may have for over winter break.
- Start going over the material you need for your last semester.
- Go through old threads on CC, avoiding anything that has to do with acceptance chances.
- Go out dancing. Better yet, learn how to dance Salsa if you don't know how.
- Spend time with your high-school buddies remembering your most embarrassing moments.
- Make up out a bunch of Senior pranks that will amuse everybody, especially the people being pranked.
- Learn how to cook your favorite foods
- Learn to crochet
Things NOT to do:
- Learn to be a mime.
- Listen to sad songs until the wee hours of the night
- Serenade your crush (wait until the weather is warmer for that)
- Write bad poetry
- Try and break the world record of number of bananas eaten in an hour
- Set fire to a dumpster
- Streak (do people still do that?)
- Try Marmite on toast (trust me, just don't)
- Stalk celebrities
- Most of all, DON'T look over admissions statistics!!!
Get a job!
Building up savings b4 college is really helpful so you can travel to see friends at other colleges, etc. My D started college kinda broke and is struggling to live the lifestyle she’d like!
Your spring semester job could carry into summer…
This is your last semester of HS. There are very few times where you have the opportunity to do so many things for free/low cost at your school! Get involved in something you always wanted to try. Go to sports games. See the school play. Make a club of video games. Ask that girl/guy out.
You can also start looking for scholarships.
Spend time with friends and family, especially any younger siblings. Get a summer job.
