what to do?

I would like help in making a decision.

Current scenario: attending: ACC with 49 credits, GPA of 4.0. all indicator courses finished.

three year international and local accounting experience. 5 fabulous letters of

recommendation(from teachers and previous boss)

I would like to attend McCombs in Fall 2014 under fresh start as external transfer

My problem is one of the last colleges I attended will not qualify for Fresh Start in Fall 2014. It was only 8 years ago not 10 years.

I made two C's and a B( intro to accounting, intro to law) the last college I attended.

I am afraid that UT Austin will count the bad grades in as well, which will drop my current GPA horribly to ~3.69. Seems like all the effort at ACC has been wasted. I know UT Austin strictly goes by GPA's

Here are my options:
wait for 2 more years------------then apply to UT under Fresh start----------waste of time.

Should I apply now? Is it even worth it? How much of a difference 8 years will make in UT's decision?

Should I get my undergrad from some other place----------relocation consequences.

I am in such a dilemma. Any feedback will be appreciated.

a 3.69 is not horrible at all!

Call the admissions office and ask what grades will be considered if you apply as a transfer under regular admission and if you apply under fresh start. Also, check to see what the average gpa is for admission to McCombs for transfer students. It may be that since your “bad” grades are from so long ago, they will be discounted. You could address this issue in your essay. I know upward trends are always viewed positively . I think it’s significant that your most recent gpa is a 4.0, while only the grades from 8 years ago bring your gpa down.
