thanks

thanks

Just bring what is on the list and then you can bring anything else up for parent’s weekend or ship it after Indoc. As for a suitcase, many of the candidates bring military style “sea bags” which can then be used for sea year. They also fold up and don’t take up too much room when not in use.

Also it’s a good idea to pack small items in zip lock bags. That way things don’t get too scattered if your bag gets dumped out.

Our son brought a military duffle bag. The idea of using baggies is a good one. He put all of his personal items in the small plastic bags.

One thing you may want to add to your list is gold bond powder. If you get into Band or 2nd Co without a/c you may want some for heat rash :)

lol gold bond got it! Does anyone know where i could get such a military bag? Also do all dorms not have AC?

For duffle bags- soldiercity.com or militaryclothing.com…a plain bag with a handle will only cost around$15, and you can get bags with backpack straps and pockets for like $20-$40

Almost any army-navy store. Sea bags / duffel bags come with shoulder straps now so you can wear them like a back pack

well that works then haha. So does anyone know about the A/C. Is it only in some rooms? Or none perhaps?

Everything is air conditioned except 2nd company and Band company.

I bought a few seabags on ebay last year, here are 2 that are currently for sale:

and that size bag should fit everything on the list…?

Yep it should fit just fine. Also, take a look a the Plebe Parent Tips that were just posted on the parent’s web page. It has some useful information for the parents.

thanks everyone this was very helpful

Should I write my name on everything I’m going to bring with me? Like shirts and stuff like that?

What does the Logging In book say? Follow the directions there.

Jcam42, Hold off on labeling anything. It seems to me that you will spend your first evening stamping your name, class and company no. on EVERYTHING. It has to be done the way they want it done so you should probably wait

Ok thank you haha. Just making sure. They don’t mention anything about it.

Absolutely do NOT put your name on things. You will be busy stamping and stenciling with everyone else that first evening or soon after. There were some last year who came with things labeled and had problems because they didn’t match everyone else.

Which is why I said to follow the instructions in logging in :D
