Ok so my orientation in Next Monday, I am an upper-class transfer what do I take to orientation? I also have talked to the Admission office because it seems like all the information they where suppose to mail to me by now hasn't come about orientation. Hopefully will be here by friday. I know orientation for transfer's is 1 day but what do you do in orientation? Do you get to see the dorms?

I have no experience with transfer orientation but if I were you, I would be prepared by looking over my academic map for my major and doing a course search for available times and days and sections of prerequisite required courses. Get a list together so you are ready to set up your initial schedule. I am pretty sure one of the most important things they will do is help you the first time get your schedule set up and let you meet the adviser for your major.

You also must purchase your FSUCARD which is used for just about everything. You probably will want to set up a Suntrust account to attach to it for financial aid or scholarship money.

I would imagine they will have a tour of the school and dorms but they probably cut down on some of the FTIC information for parents and students. Although they should explain the mandatory first day attendance policy and how to use Blackboard to view your syllabus, grades, assignments, email, financial information, schedule, etc…

bring a little backpack top carry all your papers and materials in. as cybermom said, the most important thing you can do in advance is to map out your course selection.

So my orientation date was March 23, I made the trip from Miami to Tallahassee in 8 hours. As soon as we got their we signed in to the orientation got the FSU card and then waited for the speakers to talk. It was interesting we heard the usual rules and philosophy and then eventually got to register for our classes. Learned how to sign up using the blackboad. They didn’t really ask for much. As far as the Advisor for Intl. Affairs. the women just told us what our orientation leader told us. I thought the lady was in cloud 9. Eventually I registered for classes and browsed the school. I was amazed by how big the school was. Alot of things to do. I didn’t now students get athletic event tickets free. I browsed 2 dorms Salley’s and Smith’s. Smith’s looked like a jail cell with no window while Salley’s was 2 rooms and 4 people living in it.

Overall it was a good experience.
