What UC GPA at your schools typically qualified for ELC?

I know this varies from school to school, but can any of you tell me what the lowest UC GPA was that made the cutoff for ELC?

I have a UC GPA of about 4.07 and was wondering if this would make it…

Ask your counselor. You can calculate if you are ELC statewide by using this link:

ELC only guarantees a spot if room is available at UC Merced if you don get into a UC if choice.

@Gumbymom Thank you!

Unless your school hands out As like candy - you will certainly be ELC

@NCalRent I sure hope so, thank you!

bump - please answer!

Your school’s benchmark GPA will be different from other schools, so what does it matter what any other school’s benchmark GPA is set at but your own. Ask your GC.

How UC determines schools’ historic GPAs

Since the inception of the ELC program, participating schools have submitted transcripts for the top 12.5 percent (15 percent beginning in 2011) of their students, with parental permission. Using this information, we have established a historic, or benchmark, GPA representing the expected GPA for the top 9 percent of the students from each school.

Schools are periodically requested to submit transcripts so that we can monitor — and reset, if necessary — their benchmark GPA.

@Gumbymom Good idea, I’ll ask counselor on Mon. One question: is the ELC benchmark GPA calculated based on the students in your year’s class only or all past classes since the beginning of the ELC program? I’m kind of confused on this…so will you be compared against students in your year’s class only (in my case CO17) or also previous years (2016, 2015, blah blah)?

Also, is ELC eligibility calc’d using capped or uncapped? Many sources say uncapped…

See post #6. It seems to be a historic benchmark score but can be updated periodically (not sure if this is yearly??). I would ask your GC since they should know how often they submit transcripts.

@Gumbymom Ohh ok I will ask. Also, is it based off capped or uncapped?
