Any chance that there is a link to that 1.3 GPA student who was accepted at an Ivy League school? Until there is verification of this information, I would not believe there is any truth to that information.

Am I the only one who thinks the elfs are at play during this holiday season? IBsenior254/Protagonist111/Broken22, is that you?

If this thread is for real, why don’t you apply for big national scholarship /essay competitions? MY older s’s friend paid her way through collge by winning lots of smaller scholarship competitions (essay writing ones, etc) . Took a lot of work, but she did it. $500 here, $1000 there adds up. Some are $10k scholarships and more. Your SAT scores are not going to win you any merit $.

jym…the OP to this thread is an international student who very likely is not eligible for the types of scholarships you are describing.

Some of the other respondants (ones who are U.S. residents) are. BUT even those…with a 1240/2400 SAT…what national scholarships would be available to this student?

For instance, there had been an ADHD scholarship sponsored by one of the pharmaceutical companies. It paid $10K. There are lots and lots of small and quirky scholarships that reqire essays and proof of financial need. My kids even applied to some Goodyear tire co scholarship contest requiring an essay about driving safety because one of the top prizes, in addition to scholarship $$, was a set of 4 tires! These are NOT merit scholarships. There are a lot of non-merit scholarships out there. The students should do their research on these scholarships. They are out there.

Are the above scholarships open to international students?? Usually NOT.

I really don’t know which are open to internationals, thumper, but there are some opportunities are out there if they look for them, and if they do the research.

I just did a quick google search on scholarships for internationsal students an a LOT of links popped up. There is stuff out there for them if they do their HW.

They can start here [Financial Aid for International Students | Exchange Programs, Scholarships, and more](Financial Aid for International Students: Scholarships)
Posters can take it from here and do their HW
