Not exactly requirements per se, I'll admit, since it's more of a competitive thing, but I've been looking for this information all over the internet and can't seem to find it.

To get AP State Scholar, you'd have to take anywhere from 19-23 AP exams. It varies by year and by state.

haha, i dont think bottom line is 19. at least from my personal knowledge, there is a very very low chance for any one to do that in louisiana.

Do you know where I can get a data breakdown for each state?

There was a thread on this awhile ago. I think that the male state scholar for Texas took 21 APs and the one for Florida also took 21. But those are big states...you probably wouldn't need to take as many to qualify in smaller states.

k well unless you're seriously considering studying up to 20 APs you shouldn't worry about what the cutoffs are per state (not like its up anywhere on the internet anyway)

Well, I'm wondering if I can make it for my small state (I live in Maine) :o.

20 AP's isn't too bad ... I think I can manage the self-study of 12, and 6 from my school ...

I think if you did 18 for Maine, you'd get AP State Scholar.

But I just don't like the idea of self studying just to get some award. You should actually want to study those subjects =/

Well yeah. I want to study everything.

k well honestly it sounds good now, but when you actually buy ALL that prep stuff and then get it delivered to your house, you'll realize you got into something way over your head.

Well I don't intend to buy prep material too much, cuz my family can't afford it anyway. My AP tests are subsidised -- I just meant self-study in general, using a mix of resources.

go for it!

well gl mate.

I did 15 for Pennsylvania. I wasn't going for the award, it just happened... I self-studied two (Micro and and Macro Econ) but only because I wanted to place out of college intro classes. Study what you want to... don't worry about the award, it's useless as you'll be in college anyway. And watch those scores, that's what actually matters :P

Would it help majorly for fall transfer requests? (Would it look funny if I tried to apply for transfer after I receive my scores or possible awards without even having completed my first semester next year?)

Would it also look good if 14 of those courses (out of a possible 23) were virtually self-studied? (The exams of course, being all 5's?) Or is my endeavour pointless? (I guess I just really want to get into my school of choice really badly.)

I also did 15 exams, for NY. I'm quite surprised by the award, since 15 is relatively low for such a large state as NY. And lackadaisy's soooo right about the uselessness of the award - AP State Scholar means nothing when you have a pile of psets to do. ;)
