What would be the ideal GPA for a transfer student trying to get into University of Washington?

My GPA is not the greatest, but I've done very well in specific courses that relate to what I want to major in. I intend on majoring in Asian Studies and Minoring in Korean. I've taken a couple Ethnic Minority classes as well as language classes and art classes. In each of those classes, I've had over a 3.5 grade out of a total of 4.

The problem is that during the start of my college career, I was a Running Start student and did not do very well for the first year in college. That has hindered my GPA quite a bit. I have a cumulative GPA of 3.1 right now - I have two more quarters left which could bring my GPA up slightly.

I'm wondering if I even have a chance at getting accepted into UW Seattle with this GPA. Even though their site says that GPA is not the only thing they care about, I'm still pretty convinced that it is a big factor into determining who they accept.

I would be applying this December to start in the Fall 2015.

I have two friends that got into Asian studies with around a 2.5-2.8 GPA. Don’t sweat your GPA, I’m pretty sure Asian Studies is not super competitive.

You should be fine.
When it comes to your GPA, UW is much more lenient when you’re an instate transfer.
Remember that an upward trend is much better than having a decent GPA with a downward trend.
Like Spectatin, I too have seen people get into UW GA with less than 3.0s.
Remember to do well in your pre requisites and write a very detailed essay.
Good luck, I applied for Winter 2015 and am waiting to hear back.
