what would some safeties be?

Can somebody tell me some safeties for me? I'm kind of lacking some and feel that i need some. Also, if you could tell me what the other schools on my list would be that wouldbe great. I like the bigger schools that are social and with some school spirit-good sports are a plus too

Northwestern WCAS
UPenn CAS
Cornell
BC
Wake Forest
Wash U
Tufts
Gtown
Emory
Notre Dame

UW GPA: not really sure, probably around a 3.7-3.8
W GPA: 4.05

ACT: 32 (I dont think they superscore, but if they do id have a 34, probably only sending in my 32 though)

SAT II: I know its recommended, but Im not sending them, I didnt do as well as Id like.

APs: took 2 this year, 4 next year
AP micro 4
AP macro 4

ECs: -on exec. board that organized an all night walk for a hospice in Ecuador, raised close to 30k
- Chairman of club that goes to food kitchen twice a month
-Economics Competition at the FED
-Economics Competition at Harvard (came in 2nd)
-Economics for Leaders program at Cornell
-Rugby all 4 years(also on NE select team)
-leadership retreat at my school
-Underclassmen mentor

Recs: should be really good, getting them from 2 teachers, the woman that worked on the overnight walk fundraiser with me, and the headmaster of my school

Essay: working on it now, its about the overnight walk for the hospital in ecuador, hopefully it ends up good

Thanks!

bumppppppp

University of Wisconsin
University of Maryland-College Park
University of Miami
University of Rochester (sports are not so hot though)

Also, Wash U superscores the ACT, so I would send all your scores to them (a 32 to a 34 is a big jump). I'm not sure whether any of the other schools superscore.

I do not know how accurate this list is, but here is a list of schools from other posters who say that these schools superscore the ACT:

Brown University
Columbia University
Connecticut College
Florida State University
Georgetown University
Kenyon College
NYU
MIT
Olin College
Purdue University
St. John's University
SUNY Buffalo
Trinity College (CT)
University of Arkansas
University of Georgia
University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill
University of Tennessee
WUSTL

Where is your financial safety?

UMass Amherst
University of Minnesota (OOS tuition capped at $2K/semester above in-state = $10,650 OOS for 2008-09, plus some merit aid available)

Both are admissions safeties and financial safeties for the OP.

^ To clarify, that's $10,650 PER YEAR OOS tuition at Minnesota.

While Vanderbilt isn't a safety, I would think you would have a good shot of getting in and it would fit your other criteria.

You are aware that some schools require the SAT IIs? You need to send them in; you don't have the option..

I'm too lazy to look to see which is which, but I'm sure that almost all the schools you listed REQUIRE SAT IIs.

they actually dont, georgetown is the only one that requires them, so i may not apply there. the rest are all optional. and thanks, i think ill add vandy to my list
