Hispanic Male, First Generation to college, low income bout 35K

if you can raise ur SATs more you will definitely be able to make it almost into any college, hispanic and low income will probably help a lot too

OK, so 1330 2-score. Although by the time you go to college, writing will probably matter as much as the other scores. Anyway, I'd predict that by your senior year you could get those up to at least 1450, maybe even higher. Also, since you seem to be very good at science, I'd recommend that you try the ACT, which has a science section. You may do better on it.

As a URM and 1st generation with a great GPA and strong ECs (president of a club, founder of a club, gold medals at science fair..wow) you have a lot going for you. Assuming you can get the scores up I'd recommend trying to do a program such as RSI and do Intel or Siemens. If you can do well in one of those competitions that's extremely helpful in admissions and summer programs like RSI are also very helpful.

Currently, you should be looking at places like Wash U, JHU, and Berkeley as reaches. You could also throw in a top 10 school as 1 big reach. Safeties would be places like Penn State and RPI. Good matches would be anything in between. If you get the scores up, which I'm sure you will, I think you'd have a good shot at the top schools like Harvard, MIT, etc...Also, think about what you're looking for in a school- small vs medium vs large and urban vs rural vs suburban. Then I could help you more on which schools to look at.

Well i want a school that is not rural, defiantely suburb or city. Places like Brown or Columbia from what i see really fit what I want, any others that are similar? Are my ec's really that strong b/c that is what makes me most nervous, what else would u suggest i do?

I think your extracurriculars look strong. You still have a little under 2 years before you'll be submitting applications!! I'd suggest you focus in on a couple or few things. Looks like those should be debate and science/research. Do as much as you can in those areas.

If you like Brown and Columbia I'd think you'd like WashU, JHU, and Chicago too. As slight reaches/ good matches if you get the scores up perhaps Carnegie Mellon and Tufts. Good matches- U of Rochester, Case Western, Georgia Tech. Safeties- maybe Syracuse, GWU.
