I will be attending the University of Florida next year and am not sure what to pick as my major. I want to focus on pre-health, mainly medicine or dentistry, maybe even pharmacy. I understand that any pre-health is just a curriculum and any major is acceptable. But still, everyone I've asked has told me to choose something out of the norm of biology and chemistry, because every other pre-health student is that. I'm afraid that if I pick a major out of the norm that I will not have interest in it and not do as well.

I'm great in science, good in math (not an outstanding genius, but I am good), not very strong in courses such as english or history. I dont know what to do, someone please give me some advice.

If you're good at science and enjoy it, then theres no reason not to major in it! Pick a major in biology-chemistry-biochem-zoology-microbiology, whatever, and find a unique minor that complements your science major well. Some that don't involve history or english as much would be mass comm, sociology, psychology, econ, food safety, a language, dietetics...or double major in a study like these along with your science field

Another possible choice is Exercise Physiology/Kinisiology major - includes most of the sciences and maths as well that would be effective as pre-med if needed. Very good pre-health major - will give some flexability also - and along the lines of a bit different - and not a wimp major by any means.

Check out U of FL's College of Health and Human Performance - you may be surprised at what is offered that would be of interest to you.

Yeah I'm going for medicine as well. I'm majoring in Biology and BioChemistry, and minoring in Latin. So I think that's the best choice would be something like Biology

i'm planning on going to med school with a philosophy major. Philosophy seems to be pretty good for all those pre - professional majors...or so i've been told.

Actually - just about ANY undergrad major is applicable for med school - not just the bio/science ones - just need to make sure to do the required sciences tho. Multi facitated folks make great med students.
