I’ll be a freshman entering college and here is my class list.

World Civilization to 1500
Epidemics in World History
Intermediate Algebra
MUN
Introduction to International Relations
Freshman Intro

About 18 credits total but since I don’t normally count Freshman Intro it should be about 17. My earliest class begins at 8:30am and I’m not looking forward to that. Especially since it’s math. My latest class ends at 3pm so that’s a bit nice.

8:00 - 9:25 Intro to Gen. Chem. (3)
4:20 - 6:45 Japanese 1 (5)
7:05 - 9:30 Calculus/Analytic Geometry 1 (5)

idk if I should add another 3 unit class or not… I’m not sure if 14 units is too much or too little for an incoming freshman. I might add an English class if that’s the case… I don’t like having classes so late at night, I hope I don’t get tired… but there’s only 3 calc 1 classes being offered on campus and that time slot had the best teacher.

Typically, freshmen take about 15 credits for their fall semester, so 14 would put you at the normal amount. I wouldn’t add another class because you might stress yourself.

I would keep the calculus class that you have if that is the one with the best teacher. I’d rather have a later class with a good teacher than an earlier class with a bad one. Plus, you have a lot of time between Japanese and calculus.

Not sure if I should take Calc III or Calc I (for a relatively “easy A” since I already took Calc AB and BC)… anyone have any advice? (My school doesn’t require Calc II to go to Calc III, and from various posts, some people are saying that Calc II is harder than either Calc I or Calc III). I also want to take Gen Chem (but taking the lab 2nd semester), an English class, and Japanese. I don’t need to take higher math (premed/pre-dent= 1 semester calc + 1 semester stat usually) and I’m not a math genius, but I enjoy it. Blah.

So, I’ve finally finalized my schedule. Got all the classes I wanted (hooray for being a Senior).

Tu/Thu: Sociological Analysis 8-9:15 (3)
Tu/Thu: Social Legislation & Social Policy 2-3:40 (4)
Fri: Sociological Theory I & Research Seminar In Sociological Theory 11-3:40 (3/2)

I’m a transferring junior, Anthropology/Journalism double-major, and doing part-time.

MWF

Photojournalism, 10-10:50 AM
Intermediate Spanish II, 1-1:50 PM
Global Cultures, 2-2:50 PM

I’m doing part-time because I’m also going to write for my school paper, and experience has shown that it’s stressful for me to juggle newspaper work and classes. I’m in love with my schedule, particularly because it gives me Tuesdays and Thursdays off. :)

I’ve noticed lot of you take shorter classes 3x a week, is there a reason for this or is that s just the general set up of you school? I know for me the reason I didn’t do that is because that means I would Friday classes …

I’m thinking about making a minor change to my schedule. I start at 9:00 on MWF, and I finish at 11:50. I could move my math class to 8:00 and then be done at 10:50. I don’t know if it would be worth it, though. I’m a commuter, by the way.

If you like waking up really early then go for it, but personally I wouldn’t do that. I had 8 am classes last year and it was awful, and I lived on campus. I’d imagine a commuter would have to wake up even earlier. Either way, you’ll be going home at noon or earlier, so might as well sleep in a little.

Guys be ready for possible changes in your class schedule when you arrive on campus…especially freshman.
This is very common, based on the schools need. Some sections might be cancel, testing/per-requisites, work-study if applicable.
So start looking for alternate classes that will count towards your major or graduation if one or more of the classes you though you were banked on does not turn out to be so.
Best of luck to you all especially FROSH…lol… you will need it.

MTWThF: Intro to Gender and Popular Culture 9:30-10:20
MWF: Intro to Geological Sciences 1:30-2:20 (Lab M 11:30-1:20)
TTh: Special Topics in Archaeology (Ancient Warfare) 1:30-3:20

^ 3 classes? Will you graduate in 4 years with this few classes per semester or will you be taking summer classes and pilling up in future semesters?
I always think 4 classes or (16) credits whichever is more convenient is a good way to keep up with the 120-130 credits - 4 year graduation requirement.

@ccco2018 I am on the quarter system, those 3 classes are 15 credits in all. It’s the recommended course load for staying on track for graduation

I was doing a little experimenting with my schedule, and I wanted to ask you guys what you think of these schedules. I’m definitely not sure if I will revise my schedule to any of these drafts, but they’re possibilities.

The only reason I am considering these three options is that I am commuting, so I can possibly save on gas. I may keep my schedule the way it is, but I would like your opinions on the three plans above. If you can, please list the pros/cons! Thanks!
