What do UC's look at more, for example UC San Diego? Unweighted GPA or weighted GPA?

unweighted counts for more

UCs go by specifically a UC GPA, which is pretty much unweighted by allows for 8 semesters per year (I think) to be given an extra point if it falls under the list of approved weighted classes.

To specifically answer your question, and I learned this the hard way, an unweighted 4.0 in this case would put you ahead of the person that has a weighted 4.0.

Cheers and good luck.

Do freshman year grades matter or only 11-12?

Recalculated UC GPA from 10th and 11th grade.

UCs mainly look at 10-11 grades I think since you won’t be able to get them your 12th grade grades on time.

oh my bad I mean’t to say 10-11.

“To specifically answer your question, and I learned this the hard way, an unweighted 4.0 in this case would put you ahead of the person that has a weighted 4.0.”

Well of course, unless the first person didn’t take a single AP/Honors course, he would have the higher unweighted AND weighted GPA than the second person.

Courseload is important, and if your challenging courseload is displayed through your weighted GPA, then that will not be ignored.

yeah. an example would be like who would they like better:
PERSON #1:
unweighted: 3.0
weighted: 4.0
PERSON #2:
unweighted: 3.5
weighted:3.5-3.7

something along that line.
