are you guys kidding?
math 1 is more impressive than 2?
then why the hell would ppl like us, who can get high scores on every math test, take math 2 over 1?

Wait.
If Math level 1 is more impressive
Why does everyone take Math level 2??

Should I take Math level 1 also? even if I don't really need any more subject tests?

exactly smile.
calculus bc ap exam has highest percentage for 5s
but it's one of the hardest exams. it's cuz ppl good at math
take it

haha I didn't think about that.
I certainly hope that's true!

Least - SAT II Math II
Middle - SAT I Math
Hardest - SAT II Math I (very tough curve)

I mean, if we changed the name of the thread to: "which test is most impressive if you get everything right"

I'd say:

Math 2 - Most
Math 1 - Middle
Reasoning - Least

i totally agree with arachnotron.

guys, seriously...
if math 1 was more impressive, then why the heck
are ppl who excel in math take math 2 over math 1?
and comparing reasoning test to subject math tests??
come on....

Don't compare curves or percentiles. Generally speaking, different kinds of students take each test. How many of you who say math I is the hardest have actually taken the math I?

and yea, thats exactly the point. most of us who say that Math I is the hardest wouldnt ever take math I in the first place, since math II is regarded more highly and definitely follows the general high school math curriculum more closely.

i mean, math I is the only test to have an 800 as the 99+ percentile. im sure that if everyone who took math II took math I as well, it prolly wouldnt be as high, but due to the curve would be still higher than 90 (the percentile for an 800 on math II).

Math 1's hard to do well on because of the curve.

so what would you recommend? let's say a student took every math class up to calculus bc. would it be better for him or her to take math I or math II?

Curve makes math 1 toughest -- to the person above that mentioned the curve: -1 is usually <800 unless it was a really tough exam. Not so for level 2 of course, there you can get a few wrong and be okay.

if you are good at math, then take math lv. 2!!!
and most who scored 800 in math2 would score 800 in math 1
it's just cuz kids who don't excel in math take math 1
so that's why the average score isn't high.
again, let's refer back to the AP exams
there are more 5s 4s and 3s for calc BC than AB.
does that mean AB is harder than BC?

Easiest -----> Hardest

Math IIC, SAT Math, Math IC

Math IC is hard because of the curve
and SAT Math is harder than Math IIC because even though the materical covered it easier, the curve is harsher

easiest to hardest:

sat 1 math, math level 2, math level 1

i got above 700 in sat 1 math and am good at precal but simply cannot break 630 on either math level 1 or 2.

i just make careless errors and get all stressed out and I just mess up.

Also, colleges recognize that math lvl 2 has a huge curve, so if you want to be around the average for top schools, you need like a 740.

for other tests though, to be average, you need more like a 700 or so.

This arguement is very speculative.. Who are you trying to impress with your score? A state college? 800 Math II is the best. A fellow CCer? 800 Math I. An Ivy league? Won't be impressed unless its an 800 Math II and an 800 SAT Math.

i got a 720 on sat 1 math

sat 1 math is hard just because of the time and all the other little factors.
It's so easy to make a careless mistake when you're under pressure. Especially at like 8 in the morning on a Saturday.
Plus, it's part of a 4 hour test and it gets pretty tiring towards the end.

Math is one of my best subjects but my brain is pretty much fried after CR and W..

Math II covers harder material though.

johnny.lee: lol i like your argument!

Writing sucks and is the hardest because of the essay! I got perfect math and CR, and I don't even read much (video games are to blame).
