What's my Chance to get in as an International Transfer applicant?

Hello,

Please tell me if there’s any chance for me to get admitted as an International transfer applicant for Spring 2017.
I am applying to the Cybersecurity Undergraduate Major.

I have a 3 year Diploma in computer science after 10th grade which includes some post secondary course-work which I want to transfer to stevens.

The ECE evaluation states I have 3.29 GPA for my post-secondary coursework.

My TOEFL score is 83.

The dean of undergrad admissions told me that I don’t need to submit SAT scores as a part of my transfer application.

I have 3 years of freelance work experience in the CyberSecurity field and I have acknowledgements from Google, Microsoft, Yahoo and Mozilla, etc.

I have good recommendation letters from Startups in the US, including one from a Professor at Stevens itself as I was offered a internship by him in the past.

Please tell me what do you think about my chances to get in.

Thank you!

Hard to guess as admission results seem to be changing from year to year. Cybersecurity is currently a very popular major, so there will be more competition. You can only apply and see what happens. Good luck~

Damn! So there’s a tough competition :frowning: Still, if you’d have to judge my profile, Could I get in?

Most of the Students applying for bachelors don’t really have any practical or real-world Cybersecurity experience, Which I do have, What do you think about that? Still tough?

Looks like you have a good background and I did not mean to discourage you, it’s just a popular major right now. Let us know what happens!

Looks like you have a decent experience regarding Stevens admissions criteria, Could you please tell me more? Do they care more about Scores and GPA or extra curricular activities, SOP and recommendation letters?

Scores and GPA are important, but I do think that they look at your overall application, including ECs.

@rualum Their website says that they send out decisions for spring 2017 during late November, But I haven’t received a decision yet, What should I do?

Stevens is my first choice to attend but they are not sending out the decision and I have two universities with admits who are constantly emailing me to decide whether to attend or not. I can’t say no to them because if later I got a reject from stevens I’d be doomed. but I am running out of time given by those two universities for me to decide. :’( What should I do?

I would most definitely call them and ask. Are the decision deadlines all different?

@rualum Please take a look- https://www.stevens.edu/admissions/undergraduate-admissions/how-apply/transfer-students

It says, "Spring transfers will receive admissions decisions at the end of November; Fall transfers will receive notifications at the end of June.

At the time of admission, you will also receive information on any financial aid you’ve been awarded if you have applied for financial aid by the deadline. You will have two weeks from the date of your admissions notification to submit a tuition deposit and confirm your enrollment at Stevens."

So call them up and ask them if you have been accepted. It does say that their transfer admissions are ‘rolling’ so they may not have a decision for you yet, but I would tell them that you have other offers pending and Stevens is your first choice.

Also see https://www.stevens.edu/admissions/tuition-financial-aid/undergraduate-scholarships-aid/undergraduate-international-student-resources for questions about aid.

Also:

Q. How long will it take for my transfer evaluation process to be completed?
A. It could vary depending on the time of year, but the average is two to three weeks from the time that all course information has been submitted.

Regarding the transfer evaluation process, What do they mean by course information? I had an ECE evaluation which stated all the post secondary coursework (transferrable) which I had, Is that what they’re asking? if that’s it, I submitted it in my application. And everything shows the “received” status in my application portal. what do you think?

I am unfamiliar with international applications. I would call admissions and ask them all of your questions.

They have given the phone number of dean, Should I call the dean directly?

Yes.
