I want to know what's so great abotu UCONN? How are the dorms like, tried searching for info but didn't find any? How are the people there? What's the social scene like? What are the better departments? Is it well known and respectable in terms of getting a job after graduation? Any info would be higly appreciated.

Is it well known and respectable in terms of getting a job after graduation?

It depends on you and what you want to persue. If you're engineering, then absolutely. Big engineering recruiting. Accounting. Same thing, you'll be working for a big 4 firm. Every actuarial firm/consultancy knowns UConn and has great respect for it.

Keep in mind a good GPA matters. A 3.5+ and you're set.

The huskies' basketball team

The women's team. The men's team will be good in a year or two, if the players don't drop out or go to the NBA.

it's got a great social sphere, but the dorm life SUCKS - the food is awful and everything breaks in the dorms. Plus having a CA is awful. I do like the majority of my classes, although most are large lectures. Despite the school having a reputation of being "easy" it's really not, classes are challenging and require A LOT of time and studying put into them if you want to do well.

I think you're being way too general. The food is definitely not awful, it's decent in most places, better in some than others (like towers and south). And things only 'break' in the worse dorms as far as I know (like North). I live in North and so far we've had to deal with a leaky heater, falling ceiling tiles, and the occasional no hot water. The only other terrible dorms I think are West. Most of the others like NW, towers, mcmahon, hilltop, alumni, and shippee are either awesome or very good.

Having a CA is only awful if your CA is awful. Some CAs are cool, some are not. Besides, every school has RAs/CAs or something of the sort.
