WHat's the best form of government?

sure, but you start the thread, I'm too lazy right now.

China's economy is only soaring because they opened it up and decentralized everything. China is running pretty much the purest form of capitalism out there today. There are little to no regulations and what regulations there are you can easily go about.

BCP, what you say is only partly true. China's economy's phenomenal growth is not a recent one. China has been growing at 8%-10% annually since the late 1970s. But China did not open up and decentralize anytrhing until the early 80s and those policy changes did not star bearing fruit until the late 80s or even early 90s. Clearly, China's current economic success is greatly owed to the opening up and decentralizing of key industries, but it is not based on that.

The best form of government is a dictatorship, as long as I'm running it.

Otherwise, I go for multi-party democracy.

representative democracy with a system of check and balance (like the U.S.A. :)).....in the words of Winston Churchill....
"It has been said that democracy is the worst form of government except all the others that have been tried. "

This is actually a very complicated thread...a proper government depends on the nature of the nation

enlightened monarchy

just kidding, democracy obviously - and if the people want to be dictated, then let them decide themselves

well, eventually...all governments will move towards freedom, whether it be by Marxist means or like the Founders did for America...it's all a matter of "political evolution."...nobody wants to be dictated obviously...it just takes time for ppl to build up the man power/political knowledge to overthrow harsh leaders and form a stable government...which is exactly why the Iraqi Democracy isn't doing too well right now...things are being rushed...it's like "a deadline for democracy."

poor China, its been a few thousand years in the making for them :)

I have this idea that an external force guides all democracy if an internal force does not develop, but no one wants to mess with China so its stuck in status quo

China's a lost cause...it's like that bad kid that just never learns :p

and you're right external forces can guide...but the situation in Iraq is different...an external force has basically set a deadline without giving the ppl the chance to adapt...it's like....trying to get a toddler to have sex when he hasn't even hit puberty.

What kind of government do you think Paris Hilton would vote for?

What would Elian Gonzales choose?

And what would Alexander Solzhenitsyn, with his experiences, prefer?

anarchy...not really. i guess a democratic republic.

and by the way, my government teacher has a poster in his class with all the different governments and the cows thats at the beginning of the thread. i remember reading it in class during a test one day and all of a sudden laughing out loud at the Nazism one. everyone though i was crazy...which is only partially true...

libertarian

democracy

empire

Paris Hilton doesn't care what kind of government is out there as long as she can shop, put herself on the public stage and party!

Elian Gonzales would probably pick some sort of social democracy.

Alexander Solzhenitsyn would also proably pick some sort of social democracy.

democratic republic, theocracy

celebs don't know what the different types of government there are. Dizzymom, why did you have to ruin this thread with gross celebs like Paris Hilton. I don't see how that relates to this thread.

so there's no "best form of government,".....branched democracies lack in efficiency, autocracies and totalitarian gov'ts lack in legitimacy/freedom, socialism lacks in organization....I'd say a representative/constitutional democracy is a hybrid...

haha nahra your analogy was awesome

Communism people, with a capatalist economy. Yeah yeah, I know, capitalism promotes corruption, but as long as it's limited capatalism, meaning that local governments hold the greater porton of power, and everthing isn't centralized at the federal branches, it'll work.

Intoxicated, sober up and note that Alexander Solzhenitsyn is hardly a gross celebrity. You are free to question my judgement, but accusing me of "ruining" a thread is unjustified. Put my posts on ignore if they disturb you so, and use all that extra time to improve your social skills.
