What's the BEST thing about going to college for you?

@Plainsman : Thx for the reminder. At least I’ll get an impression of living in America, bubble or not~

the chance to go abroad!

how about the worst thing about going to college? college life is so overrated nowadays…

Worst? Perhaps not being with my parents for a long time…it would be nice to be able to see them once every two weeks.

New friends and a new place; a bigger room (my room is tiny right now and smaller than any college dorm I’ve seen yet). New stuff.

The worst for me last year was living with my psycho roommate. Now that I am living alone I think the worst is how much more effort it is to eat healthily at school than it is at home. At home I do my own grocery shopping and own cooking, at school I am at the mercy of my class schedule, the cafeteria hours, and their menu for the day.

Not having to be in school from 7:30 am to 2:30 pm, being able to do whatever I want, and not having to deal with my crazy family anymore.

staying up as late as i want to! lame but at home i’d get yelled at for reading till midnight because my page turning was too loud.

To learn all that can be learned in my short time there. :)

Come again? Were you “reading” magazines, or something?

^nah i just have a very light sleeper for a parent. they were regular pages

Finally having the funding and resources available to do my own research comparing the emerging Asian healthcare market with the United States.

Talking to and learning from a professor who discovered Histones (a man who’s research I read about in my high school bio textbooks) in a class of only 20 freshman students.

Oh and finally something more superficial: having my school day start at 10 am mon - fri!

i’m so happy i’m not the only one who has family that they want to get away from. more like just my mom, but she like rules the house unfortunately.

Well for me it was American high school but really I would the whole experience in itself the freedom, independence, and… opportunity to decide my life for myself without too many friendly advices. But be wary from the culture shock and homesickness though :D, hehe and when you come back there will a reverse culture shock waiting for you.

To Eiswein:

Don’t get me wrong, I love USA. But u will not see the America that movies have produced. I literally told myself "This is not what I have seen on TV ! " when I first came here. Unless you are visiting studio sets in LA or the streets of NYC, the USA u will experience is completely different. In other words, the USA on movies is a product of imagination. :)

I guessed that haha. So I’m even more curious to know what life there is really like~

You sure your page turning technique doesn’t consist of ripping the pages out of the book after you read them?

^hahaha yes my page turning is perfectly average and harmless to my books. I am also not allowed to turn on the lights in the bathroom after 10 PM.

@NastyPolitician : lol…I see why you call yourself nasty

Definitely freedom, independence, and actually having intelligent conversations.
