What's the largest number of colleges anyone has applied to?

I'm curious. That's all.

One of my friends applied to 22, and I think she's in the process of doing more. I only did 6.

There was someone here from Romania two years ago who applied to 43 colleges.

I'm only applying to 7, but a dear friend of mine is applying to 16...only two of which are common app. (poor girl!)

43???? Youch!

I've applied to six and I thought that was kind of a lot.

I have heard of 34, a friend of a friend. That 43 from Romania ^^^ has got me beat!!

My son's friend applied to 14 so far. I think her parents want her to get into HYP so she applied to all, but here 1880 SAT is making PennState look great. Poor kid; she's in for some rejections there.

I'm expecting to apply to around 18-20 when I'm done. For a few reasons: 1.) To compare financial aid packages 2.) Around half of the applications are free applications, so it doesn't hurt to apply 3.) Many of the schools accept the Common App

Same scenario as walt ...

43X50$=$2150
Its prolly more to cos some colleges are like 60 dollars to apply.

Many are also less than $50.

$2150 in comparison to the potential financial aid savings is chump change.

I'm applying to 16. As has been stated, the potential ability to compare financial aid offers (IMO) far outweighs the extra $500 in application fees. And 14 of them are on the Common App.

Bump. Anyone else?

I'm in your boat Walt. Applied to 15 schools and expect to get into all of them, actually been accepted to 4 already. Interested to see what scholarship offers I can get. I haven't bothered even visiting schools until they give me an offer or I have to go for a scholarship day.

I'll probably still end up spending quite a bit on applications (some of the schools charge upwards of $60), but I still think it's worth it.

Some guy last year (from Alabama, I think) applied to over 30, but acknowledged he didnt want to go to half of them. Why bother if you really have no intention of going.

See, my situation is that I'm actually genuinely interested in attending all (but 2) of the schools. I've also fell in love with the cities that the schools reside in (they reside in 4 metropolitan areas). Though I have my preferences, they're not the most financially viable.

It costs money to send test scores too. Even if it's only $10 a school, mutiply that to 34 is $340.

Universities that my school has a relationship don't require that I send official scores from the testing agency, rather they'll take the scores from the transcript. This is what I've been told by my counselor.

The only school that I'm aware of that takes SAT score from transcript is Smith. I did not know that many schools would do that. Are they in the top 25 colleges?
