Same goes for people who go to UTK. I’ve gotten “Couldn’t get into Vanderbilt?” about 5 times.

What people say about mine REALLY makes me angry. Fumes The nerve of some people…

Virginia Tech:

“Don’t get shot!”

“Stay away from the asians!”

I just thought of another about my school!

Rutgers University:
“Yo, the ‘nappy-headed hoes’ school, right?” (and then usually a ::chuckle:: at the end)

I know they mean that as a joke, but really, man? Reeeally?

“Where is that?”
Keep in mind I tell them I’m staying in Illinois for school…
“That’s in the middle of nowhere. Ew”
Sorry dude =/
“Like where will you go to get your hair done?”
My bathroom…
“I’ve never heard of it. Must be lame.”
Wow…cause I’m sure that you’ve heard of every school.
“Whoa that’s a private college right? It’s expensive and you aren’t paying that much. You must be smart!”
Not necessarily…

About my major
“If you’re majoring in art, why don’t you just go to Columbia(Illinois)”
Because I’m double majoring in art and Elementary Edu. Columbia is predominantly for the fine arts.

Arizona State

“Oh party school!” “Ew, isn’t it like hot there?” “Oh I heard everyone gets in”

All true, but very surface-level observations. ASU rocks :)

I hate how people freak out when I tell them I go to school in the Bronx. Honestly, as long as you aren’t out in the middle of the night, drunk and by yourself, then you won’t get mugged. It’s the same as pretty much every other school in a major city. Even the students are insensitive about this, and some are actually scared of going out of the campus gates. Wish they would get a reality check and realize how much they are missing by not taking advantage of the Bronx.

Are there hippies eveywhere? It’s the number one school where people turn gay.

I’m going to SUNY Plattsburgh next year… this is what I hear…

“Oh WOW! It snows a lot up there I bet!”
(I live in western ny… it snows MORE here than there!!!)

“You better get some warm winter clothes, its freezing up there, isn’t it?”
(yes, I am aware…)

“That’s 6 hours away, pretty far, huh?”
(again… yes I am aware)

In all these situations, I smile and nod and confirm their statements, unless they’re wrong of course ;). But, it’s getting old, and I’m just starting there this year!
