what's the weather like?

I guess maybe because I visited Grinnell on extra-depressing, dreary day I couldn't really get the atmosphere of the place. It seemed like everyone was having a good time on-campus though, which is what really matters. But I wanted to know exactly what the weather is like? Mostly sunny? Overcast all the time? Half and half? Just a minor concern. Don't want to be in overly depressing weather all year. Not too worried about the snow though, coming from Wisconsin. :)

My son goes there - we're from Michigan - so perhaps similar to Wisconsin. He says it's about the same temperature as Michigan - but with more wind (nothing to stop it) and more sun (no lakes). He's really beginning to appreciate Iowa's weather. Have heard the same about Minnesota. Cold, but sunny.

I live in Nebraska, at almost the same latitude as Grinnell, and also have visited there. I don't know where you're from, so I can't compare the weather patterns, but it is usually cold and windy in the winter and relatively hot in the summer. Iowa can be fairly humid at times, but it gets nowhere near as much rain as Michigan, and isn't as cold as Minnesota. Where I am at, it commonly hovers around 20F down to well below 0F in the winter, and can get as hot as 110F in the summer. However, it is usually dry and always windy, so blizzards are more common than ice in the winter and the summers may be hot but it will not feel very hot. Hope this helps!
