What's *YOUR* Academic Index?

if writing counts as a subject test 226/ 8

if not, 223/7

So I recalculated my AI by using my GPA instead of class rank, and I went up to a 7 and 223. Which, although is not as awesome as some of you guys, makes me feel A LOT better. LOL. And my class rank is bound to go up (fingers crossed), so hopefully my mid-year report glistens on the desks of the admissions committee members.

Hmmm this is interesting :D

I just redid mine using the Writing score as a SAT II and got 234, so one point better, lol.

Using GPA, I have a 223/7…not bad but still not as good as you guys lol

Do Ivy use this method actually? We always say: “numbers and scores don’t decide admission or rejection”, so what is the academic index supposed to be for?

haha motion luckily i don’t feel inferior. :)

^That’s cause you got into UChicago and I didn’t :P.

Interesting stuff.
I got a 222 and a 7/9. Meh.

Reporting by GPA and by class rank changes my score by 11 points. (225-236)

222, with an AI of 7/9. Pretty low  hehe

^^ Using my gpa instead of rank moves me up ten points, from an 8 to a 9.
My rank isn’t even bad. I’m 12/750 - top 2%.
Uuuuuugh. This is so stupid. Is this actually used?

235/9

i dont think this is very accurate with regards to top schools, at all. your ECs and personality are what distinguish you, not a perfect number(s)

motion did you apply ea to uchicago?

Here’s some info for it, for those who are curious. I think it used to be used mainly used for athletics, but it is a general way of ranking applicants (or something)…

The Hernandez calculator has this graph breakdown of chances, too, in case you’re wondering. But I agree, it’s not very accurate. :P

Ehhh I am hovering between an 8 and a 9.

Not quite sure how reliable this particular one is…my friend just used it and with his rank he was a 6, but with his GPA he was a 9. It seems like SATs are the big thing in this though Yale claims that they look at SATs last…

I would be 217 if class rank wasnt considered (lazy freshman year).

Honorscentaur, yes I did and I got deferred. However, after a discussion with my regional adcom, I’m almost certain that I’m going to get rejected (she certainly implied that I would).

^^^ What happened? Why were you speaking to your adcom?

motion: Are adcoms allowed to hint negative results like that? Maybe she was just joking? :S

@motion- no way they can’t do that!
