If my daughter were to return to campus Saturday of Thanksgiving break, are the dining halls open? If not, what other options are there?

On breaks, the dining hall normally re-opens starting at lunch on the day before classes resume (so Sunday). It is closed the rest of break, but there are plenty of off-campus options on Ninth Street and most of the eateries on West remain open.

It is going to suck cause I live on the west coast and I can’t go home on breaks. Starvation…

You can still order out on food points I seem to recall

Duke is located in a city, not in the middle of nowhere. You can go to local restaurants/grocery stores/order food.

@Mandoggy - I was at Duke a long time ago, but I had many invitations if I was unable to make it home for Thanksgiving. I lived over 500 miles from campus and had no car, but I was able to pretty easily find a ride close to home with another student - how did we cope before Facebook?

I guess this doesn’t really help OP who needs food Saturday night. But maybe you will make a friend from the area who will host you for the night - or at least give you a home-cooked meal.
