When are freshman required to come to campus

My son will most probably join OSU and we are out of state. I know that August 21st is the first day of school and he will most probably attend orientation earlier may be in June. I have some travel scheduled in the month of August and I would like to know when freshman normally come on campus, so that I can arrange my other travel schedule. Are there any organized activities for freshman before classes start? What would be typical schedule as I have to decide how many days I need to stay there.

Any information will appreciated.

OSU has a great schedule for the first few days the students are on campus. (They call it welcome week.) The event calendar on this page has move-in day listed as Saturday, August 18.

Students can also become OWLs (Orientation Welcome Leaders). OWLs help students carry their things to their dorms and create a positive energy around campus. If your son is interested in becoming an OWL, I am not sure what day he is allowed to move-in.

Hope this helps (:

Here’s a really great link about welcome week. [Welcome Week](http://welcomeweek.osu.edu/)

Here’s some information about OWLs. [Ohio State Welcome Leader (OWL) : University Residences and Dining Services](<a href=“Page Not Found : Housing and Residence Education”>Page Not Found : Housing and Residence Education)

Thanks for the info.

Appreciate any other tips. Are there any activities for parents?

Move-in day is actually August 17th. They sent out a mailing updating the date because it had been listed incorrectly.
