My daughter applied for Fall of 2007; she had app in around the 20th of September and heard the first week of November. Those of her friends who had the apps in earlier in September heard a few days earlier, some time in the last week of October.

D applied 10/03/07
Deferred: 12/21/07

fredmar, when you say your daughter applied sept 20, did you mean just the application online or the transcripts and recs recieved by that date too?

I am not certain of the timing, but as I recall that was the date she applied, and her school usually takes about a week to get things in, so that is probably when everything was complete. The kids I was talking about were all acceptances, by the way. The deferreds and denials seemed to take longer to hear. I think it can't be emphasized enough - applying early is a factor at UMich.

Applied: 10/3/07
Accepted: 12/15/07

My daughter had all materials in: 10/31/07 (Her teacher and gc recs were the last to be received)
Received acceptance: 11/17/07

Momnewtothis -> 17 days for your daughter to hear?? that is crazy - was she a frosh app?

snwrider2007: Yes she was a frosh app. But she submitted her app on 10/10; her teacher and counselor recs got lost in the mail and didn't make it until 10/31. So my guess is that she was a "go" and they were just waiting for the recs to arrive.

Everything received in their office: 10/10/07 - or something close to there
Accepted-- 1st or 2nd week of November

Applied : 11/27
Accepted : 12/19

what were you guys' gpa/ act(sat). I am guessing pretty good since they only took 10 days to make decision.

D's UM gpa was 3.9. Her ACT was 30.

if i apply for the early response, do i need to apply for financial aid and scholarship early too?

Applied: 9/2/08 - everything was received
Response: 10/16/08 - accepted

you already got a response?? i thought they weren't sending them out until the last week of oct.

he's a transfer student

You do not need to submit financial aid paperwork to be considered for early response. It can't hurt, but, it will make no impact on your decision or the speed thereof.
