we all know clubs meet at lunch time in high school, but i was looking through some club sites at NYU and it seems that all of them meet after school, like anytime from 4pm to 8pm.

we all know clubs meet at lunch time in high school

Clubs in my school always met after school because my school had 4 lunch periods, and some people didnt have lunch or had another period free. I'm assuming clubs meet on weeknights or weekends, or some clubs dont have set days and decide when to meet on a case by case basis.

Most stern clubs meet during 12:15-1:30, which is known as common hour. Most NYU-wide clubs meet in the afternoon or at night.

hmm why do stern clubs meet then??? i mean, not everyone has their schedule planned so they have the common hour free everyday. I only have it free 2 days of the week not including fridays...

ivypoison: usually pretty much every Stern student does have common hour free. No Stern class is scheduled during that time block.

ya but then incoming freshman don't take stern classes... well i just managed to free off my TR common hours. so now the only common hours i'm missing is half of MW. 12:50.

It's usually not too hard to keep your common hours open though. I took only one stern class my freshman year, but still managed to keep common hour times open.

well i went pretty much all the combinations i could with the classes i want to take. World Cult Empires and Einstein's Uni are pretty set in stone in terms of times. The only thing in my way, which i can't change, is calculus I. but i guess its not all that bad since it goes to 12:50 so i'll miss maybe half of the meetings haha

It depends what club you want to join, because clubs usually meet about once a week, so you might get lucky and be able to go to meetings you're actually interested in. You're only really going to be able to be fully committed to a few clubs, so it won't be much of a problem.
