Is it just random? I need to get it back soon, I just got denied at Vanderbilt today, so needless to say, I'm quite bummed. Thought I had a pretty good shot to at maybe getting waitlisted/getting lucky and in, but oh well. Michigan needs to pull through for me. Anyone have any idea if it's going to be soon?

before the middle of april? They make final decisisons in april

i think the lastest is even extended into June

A friend of mine got in memorial day weekend last year, and i even heard of someone get in in july.

What? I thought latest was April 15th.

Check this thread...active and resourceful :) regarding deferral hear-backs from Umich

Should I do anything after my deferral? I got deferred in the first week of February, and sent in my mid-year grades a couple days later. Now all I've been doing is praying, is there anything else I could do? I cannot find any e-mail addresses of any admission counselors....I was thinking of maybe sending an e-mail to one of them reiterating my desire to attend Mich., even though it says it is not needed. I need to get into Mich...

DVC04: If you've worked hard your senior year, it might be wise to write a letter (sent by mail, as it's more formal) telling the Admissions Office the effort you've put forth and explaining that you're still interested in U of M. I was deferred in November, and a couple weeks ago I sent U of M updates to my application along with a cover letter. I have no idea if they take this kind of stuff into consideration when making a final decision, but I figure as long you write sincerely and coherently (of which I'm quite sure you're capable!) then it can't hurt. I am aware that the FAQ sheet that came with the deferral letter said that calling the admissions office and asking about the status of your application won't help; however, writing a letter and updating your application is completely different to bugging the AO with questions that they can't answer.

Whatever you decide to do, good luck with your application... hopefully we'll both be in Ann Arbor come fall!

i heard only 20-30 % of deferrals get in : (.

Where did you hear that, flong?

How many overall kids were deferred? Any idea?

Alexandre gave me a ball park range of how many deferrals get in. But if you think about it, Michigan deferred ALOT of kids. it seems more deferrals than rejections
