Well, yeah I know I’ll get used to it eventually. I’m just saying that right now it sucks.

D just got her housing assignment- Hughes aat Rose Hill- her third choice…in a Quad

She was sad for about 2 minutes, then hit Facebook and found her three new roommates, non of whom wanted to be in hughes but are putting on good fronts and are getting into the excitement of it all.

Big drama know is seems they are all clothes horses who are trying to figure out how to store all the clothes!

hughes has the reputation of a “party dorm”, which on fordham means noise and some partying I guess but you can’t get away with too much.

One good thing is that D is going to pair down her clothes some. Shoe storage is going to be the toughest, but theyll make it work. That is her biggest concern- clothes storage, not the worst thing in the world.

Its in a good location, just lots of kids. But the other girls seem serious about school and plan on lots of library time and have already talked about the noise and distraction factor going in.

Think it will be fine, D is phyched and can’t wait to start filling up the suitcases, all 5 of em

Oh my, D found out yesterday that rather than just having to deal with a triple, there are now three rooms that make up her suite, so she is living with a total of 8 girls! Two triples and one double all sharing one kitchen and living room but fortunately two bathrooms! We did not see that combination when we toured, wonder how that works with 8 girls sharing one kitchen and living room? The good news is she facebooked most of them (two not on fb it seems) and they all seem to be good matches, and they were able to coordinate printers, microwave, tv, etc., so at least its going well in that regard! We’re off to BB&B to order more stuff now that we have a better idea of what she needs.

My D is happy to be in her quad instead of a forced triple.

i think the girls will be fine, so long as they clean up after themselves. That is the hardest part, cause if you have one who leaves a mess, that makes it hard. So the girls need to say right off the bad and be strong about making sure people wash their dishes and stuff. Very seldom will you have all 8 there at once cooking. It will be an adventure!!

For us, its the storage issue. But not the worst thing in the world

jptmom - eight girls living together sounds scary. The whole tendency to separate and form into little groups and then fight with each other thing. Not saying that does always happen or that it will happen, but it’s something to keep an eye out for.

8 girls living together will be just fine. Yes, some girls will like each other more. Just be open to making friends in and out of the dorm room. You can have issues with just one roommate as well.

So anyway,
I agree with Plattsburgh. That many girls together could spell trouble.

8 girls living together does sound like a mess. I know personally, I would hate to be sharing a space with that many people, especially girls. Imagine if they all start PMS’ing around the same time…!! But hopefully it will work out for the best. She can always hang at a friends’ suite or just leave campus if she feels it’s getting a bit much. I’ll definitely be on the lookout for any girls living in an 8 person suite looking for a quiet place :]

And WantsBrown, do you go to Fordham?

^^ Nope don’t want to go either. I was on a thread in HSL where some people were talking about Fordham and came here to see what it was about.

collegebound, you’re at the LC campus, right? what floor are you on?

welcome wantsbrown. good luck in your hunt. My D wanted fordham and didn’t want Brown. Go figure.

WantsBrown- Wow, I totally didn’t piece your name together until ilovetoquilt22’s comment haha.

jptmom- 4th floor!

You should read the stuff they say about Fordham in the NYU section.

lol, yep, got my eye on Brown. That or Yale. We’ll see

Why is it bad?

^^ it’s not “bad” but not exactly flattering either. Just interesting to see what other people in the area think about the school. Then look up NYU in the Coluimbia section.

I’ll admit, I go into other sections to see what the word on Brown is. lol
Where do you go to school? Fordham? I remember you saying you transferred but I can’t remember if you transferred in, out, or both.

I transferred to Columbia.

How do you like it? My sister wants to go there next year.

collegbound–my D is on 5-if the 7 other girls get too overwhelming, I’ll tell her to go downstairs!

Much better. Four thumbs up in my book.
