Depends on the school.

can you give me a couple examples?

like i know georgetown interviews as soon as you send in part 1 even if you're not done with the rest of the app.

what about other examples?

is it better to interview earlier or later?

I think most happen in December-ish? I don't really think it makes much of a difference in terms of when the interview happens. I don't even know if most interviewers have your application stuff with them if you interview with them after submitting your apps.

Yale only sends you info about interviews after you've applied, same with Columbia, I believe.

Depends on the school..some schools begin the interview process at the end of spring junior year, once they send out their admission letters for the previous year's candidates. D interviewed at several schools the summer preceding her senior year. Other schools will allow you to set up interviews during the summer for spots in the fall. If you wait too long, their appointments into the fall will be filled.

You have to do your hw and not miss the opportunity to interview because it can certainly be helpful to you if you do it well. I feel D was at a real advantage and rec'd a merit award because the head of admisions who interviewed her really liked her and she ended up with a prestigious $15M merit award.

^^ What's a $15M merit award?

I have an interview tomorrow with RPI, I haven't sent in my application yet but it is already to go! :-)

if you get your app in on the very last minute of the very last day of the very last deadline...does this put you at a disadvantage for getting an interview?

or are you just as likely as someone who's already submitted their app by now?

It was Jan for my daughter becaus she applied by Dec 31. I think you need to submit the application first.

How did you arrange it?
