UCSB is the only school (that I’m aware of) that has this specific quirky requirement.

Well it’s a dumb quirk. ;)

Yeah, and it bugs me they don’t have it written anywhere (except TAG). The good news is ppl have appealed and gotten in after being declined due to math in-progress.

@fulload I took the math requirement in winter and I got in. I think you’ll be fine.

@fullload

Yeah, you’ll definitely be fine if you take math in winter. I did that and UCLA still accepted me. It’s important to note that they take into account the classes you take in winter, even if they do not explicitly say so. I told them I had completed my math class with a “B” in winter, and they told me that they would take that grade into account when they would review my application.

Thanks guys. :)

FWIW, I’m taking the stats class at UCLA Extension. Just a tip for those in LA that either did not take the math assessment or don’t want to go through all the lower classes to reach a UC transferable math course, you can take the UCLA stats class for about 500 bucks and it satisfies your math requirement. I’m terrible in math and would have had to start with algebra, a non transferable course before taking the stats class, until I found UCLA extension. ;)

Stats kicked my butt!! I got an A, but it was one of those hard fought A’s. You may wanna brush up on your algebra a little prior to the class. It’s not heavy with algebra, but there’s enough to throw you if you haven’t had it in a while.

Good to know @fullload .

Did UCLA ever have a TAG program?

No TAG at UCLA :(

Candles, my wife took stats before graduating at SDSU, so she’s in my corner for that one. :)

@CollegeDropout1

I doubt it. If it did, the TAG program at UCLA was probably canceled many, many years ago, when admission to the school started getting very competitive.

@fullload

There is TAP, which is the next best thing. Sign up for that if you haven’t already. It helps a lot.

@cayton you actually mistook cause and effect… there was never a TAG program at UCLA. It used to be that all UC’s participated in TAP (Transfer Alliance Program), However the mid-tier UC’s did not get many TAP students since students since most of them preferred to attend UCLA or Cal. The mid-tier UC’s created TAG in order to step up their game and attract talented students… Since some TAP students had over 99% admit rate to some UC’s… it was not too much of a jump to Guarantee it and make it 100%…

@Dagoberto

Interesting. Although I never said definitively that UCLA had a TAG program.

@Cayton I’m scared of Glenda Jones!

@CollegeDropout1

Who?

@Cayton Glenda Jones is the mean statistics counselor at UCLA!

@CollegeDropout1

I didn’t think UCLA employees could be mean, lol.

Literally every UCLA employee I’ve interacted with was exceedingly nice. Almost inhumanly so… lol

@Cayton Yeah, she emotionally molested me when she didn’t reply to my email!

Interesting choice of words there, @CollegeDropout1.
