when do students who applied for ED II find out whether they got denied or accepted?
help! thanks
on the website it says "late January", what does that even mean???
like jan 30? or jan 25? SO CONFUSED

There is no specific date that EDII applicants find out the decisions of the admissions office... it varies from year to year. "Late January" could be January 25, January 30, or any other date at either the end of January or the beginning of February.

According to threads from the last few years, the earliest letters were received were January 29 for those applying for Fall 2005, January 26 for those applying for Fall 2006, January 24 for those applying for Fall 2007, and January 26 for those who applied last year.

i applied ED 2 last year and got my acceptance letter on february 1.

Vassar sends out e-mails to accepted international students at the same time as they mail acceptance letters to domestic students. Then they mail and e-mail deferred and rejected students. So if I get accepted, I might be one of the first to hear from them. But that's a big IF.

i thought there was no deferral in ed 2, only acceptance and denial
anyway i might be wrong

i hope i find out sooooooon.
omg.
and i hope to god it's not early feb

actually i'm international, but i live in a boarding school in california.
would they still email me?

@ gnitgnit
They do defer students. And as the international financial aid is limited, they often defer international early decision applicants, so that they can evaluate most of the aid applicants together. If you are a relatively competitive applicant they, most likely, wont reject you in ED 2.

I don't think you will receive email notification. International mail can be slow and often unreliable that's why they email international students. And I think they also send letters to accepted internationals via express mail :D

i called and ask and they said they're mailing it out feb
and i asked whether it was early feb or not
they said they didn't know yet
:(

It should be early feb...

does this mean that they are gonna see 2nd quarter grades? I already sent in my 1st quarter grades...

Does anyone know whether Vassar, like many other LACs, has seen a decrease in Regular Decision applications. If that is the case, then it is possible that Vassar wants to be very careful with its early decision applicants. That's why it is taking more time than usual in giving out decisions. Just my theory though.

I just really want their decision.
I'm so nervous about it.

So am I. 0_0

so nobody has received anything yet?
i guess they really are mailing them out feb then.
PLEASE POST SOMETHING IF YOU HAVE RECEIVED anything, ANYTHING.

I think we are going to receive the decisions by the end of this week. If you look in the ED 1 thread, international students this year did not receive emails at the same time when the decisions were mailed; rather, they were sent emails when domestic applicants started to receive their postal mails. So, I guess, Vassar is making sure that all applicants are notified at the same time.

But why is there so little activity in this thread??

I emailed them last week, and they replied saying "decisions are sent to be mailed by early next week".
Now, what do they mean by "sent to be mailed" ... just a typo?
So basically I think either Tuesday or Wednesday.

I think they meant "slated to be mailed." So we will know our decision in this week.

well if it is soon i hope im the first too know since i live right next to vassar. Although i heard internations get it via email before anyone is that true?

It was true for last year. But this year (ED 1) someone living near Vassar got his/her acceptance letter before international students did. In fact, international students started receiving e-mails at the same time as others started receiving their mails.

I'm guessing that means me - I applied ED 1 and got my acceptance letter on 12/13, a few days before i heard about anyone else getting letters, even the international students.

I think they were mailed out for ED 1 on 12/12 (Friday), and most people got them on Monday. I live about an hour and a half away from Vassar.
