Hi, i’m going to be a freshmen at SEAS of UVa.
I have two questions, so please tell me if u can answer

I want to take pre-med courses, so i want to transfer to CLAS.
I heard all i need to do is write a letter why i want to transfer and
send it to the admission office. Is this true? To whom should i send it to?

When can the freshmen start choosing their courses?

You can take Pre-Med courses even if you're in engineering. The Engineering Chemistry and Physics can "replace" the "normal" chem and physics. You just have to take Bio and Orgo Chem sometime in college. You can defintely be Pre-Med and Engineering. That's what I'm doing.

If you do want to transfer though, write a letter to the Dean of Admissions in Engineering.

You can start at orientation, but the list is finalized in August.

So the earliest time we can schedule our courses is the orientation day?its like August isnt it...

Don't worry, they hold spaces open in classes for each orientation. Even if your date isn't until August, you'll have classes, plenty of them, to choose from/sign up for. :)
Also, why do you want to switch out of SEAS? You can take pre-med classes with SEAS majors, without any scheduling problems. Just takes a bit more effort.

On a related note what classes shoudl I take if I want to transfer from CLas to SEAS? Probably doing BME or ChemE.
