When do we find out our residential info?

When do incoming freshmen find out where they will be living? And who our roommates are? It's really hard waiting to find out, and it would be a lot easier if I knew when the information is coming in the mail.

First week of August. They couldn’t do it any later if they tried.

my mom said at parents orientation that they will send out emails on august 1st. which is my birthday!!! (obviously my roomie is my birthday gift from NYU!)

Oh, thats good. I would love to know ASAP!

Whoa, what parent orientation? Was it for CAS?

CAS doesn’t have Parent Orientation this year. It probably was Steinhardt’s parent orientation that Stephenn was referring to.

yes it was for steinhardt :)

and you guys can refer to me as stephen instead of adding all the extra n’s haha

ooo!!! apparently most of us if not all of us have our rooms assigned already!!!

(Age: 18, Room Assigned) i was just on the starzportal thing for nyu housing and everyone’s profile had this on it

i don’t have that. :(

my housing now says “founders hall” wth is that? haha

edit- OMG THATS 12TH STREET YESSSS!

It says I’m in Third North (like I wanted) but a few friends got into dorms they never wanted to be in (and they’re ED). I’m wondering if this is final or just someone screwing something up in housing.

yeah, i know hkkxp got weinstein when that was like his 5th choice.

i hope they fix it for him, but leave it alone for me :)

Haha yeah he’s from my school/class and he’s the one I was mostly thinking about. I just found it really weird is all.

i think the reason most ED kids got weinstein is because its so expensive! most kids who applied ED are financially secure and able to afford any housing NYU has to offer so I think NYU had to take a few of those kids and put them into Weinstein because not too many kids put that down (b/c everyone has heard bad things about it and also because of the price). I dont think its a mistake. It just sucks that they had to be the unlucky ones.

Well, in one way that’s terrible to actually be at a disadvantage if you’re an ED kid, but I’m surprised that NYU actually cares enough to base it on financial capability too. I mean, it sucks to be in Weinstein if it was your last choice, but it sucks even more if you’re having difficulty paying for the last residential hall you wanted to live in. That being said, Weinstein isn’t terrible, it’s pretty close to Washington Square and built-in dining options are always nice.

I called nyu housing this morning and they told me that the current housing info on nyu home is going to change on august 1st. And also that it is not final which is good for me since I’m one of those EDers who’s housing got kindof messed up haha.

The three other people who i requested to room with were placed in a triple in weinstein while i was the only one that was placed in 12th. We were all ED kids so we were pretty freaked out this morning.

Liza537-
Btw I thought Weinstein was low-cost housing?

login to NYU home then go to housing, then forms…it is posted, now if I only knew what it meant!

weinstein is about 5800 a semester. it doesn’t have any low-cost option. google “nyu housing rates 2009-2010” to see.

Dear xxxxxx,

Thank you for contacting NYU Housing. The assignment you may be able to
see on the housing portal is not official and is subject to change. We
will send out official assignments through e-mail and regular mail during
the first week of August.

The email that housing sent me.
