Does anyone know when the Housing Office lets students (returning students, not freshmen) know whether their requests for a change to their housing will come through? My D and her roomie (rising sophomores) were given a quad during the regular housing lottery and the roomie is not happy with that, so the two of them (together) put in a request to be moved into any available double in that same dorm. Their second choice was a double in another hall. They filed the forms on time, but neither of them have heard anything yet and wonder when the NYU Housing Office will let them know for sure where they will be living. Anyone know how this works?

you should call the Housing office and ask. don’t have D call. i don’t know what it is, but when parents call, NYU is more likely to actually do something rather than give a student the runaround.

Really? The only reason I even posted the question for my D is because she is doing summer stock theater in a rural area of the country where she doesn’t have Internet access on a regular basis and when I saw her last weekend, she asked me to check her NYU email to see if any news had come through.

Thanks for the heads up. The roomie got a little upset when she found out that my D and she had been assigned to one of those open rooms in Carlyle (you know, the bedrooms made from what was formerly a living room/common room) and insisted that they instigate a change.

My D just wants to know where she is going to be living, so that we can plan when to make the long drive out to pick her and her stuff up from the summer job (which isn’t supposed to end until Sept. 2!) and haul everything back to NYU!

Thanks again.
