When does USC's RD decisions come out?

Yeah, it seems like SoCal will get their letters on the 23rd. Or at least most of SoCal

@gswarriors i approve of your team pride.
For all internationals you will get an email from DHL or TNT when the package is sent, i live in mexico city, mexico and it takes around 2 days for my mail to get to me, hope that helps

Not all of us “internationals” will get a DHL package - there quite a few applicants (like my S) who attend Department of Defense schools in Europe and the Far East. We get our mail via the USPS, so it can take seven to ten days (and sometimes longer) to reach us from the states. Sure wish more schools would notify by email!

It has been traditional at SC to send notification of admission by mail. Many students keep the letter and certificate enclosed. Unfortunately, this year the admissions committee will send out nearly 30,000 letters of regret. That does not count transfer students.

Many members of the Trojan family feel it is better to send a letter, rather than an e-mail, with the sad news the student has been denied.

The admissions letter states, “Welcome to the Trojan family!”

'Hope all of you will be hearing next week.

Once the letters are mailed, does that mean the ‘back-door link’ will work? So under the tentative 22nd release date, would that mean that the link will be up say by Monday night?

Kev,
It is different in 2011 as you have seen. I have no idea if that “trick” will work this March.

Students at SC are on spring break. They will not return until March 28th for Monday classes.

The ‘trick’ worked for scholarship decisions back in late January, so I’m assuming that it will work as soon as letters are mailed out.

Being stuck at home sick has made me so much more nervous for Tuesday. Does anyone know how long it takes mail from LA to get to WI?

wat trick :open_mouth: tell me! lol and so it’s confirmed that 22 is the decision release date?

@superdoo BigKev is talking about the backdoor links that let you access the admissions deposit page before actually receiving your packet. no point in testing it right now though as it wont work until packets are mailed (we’ll probably test it out again on the night of the 22nd, unless USC admissions stays a step ahead of CC and disables it :p)

@BigKev… tell me about it, I’m on spring break this week and I haven’t been able to enjoy it at all because I want it to move faster so my letter can get here! I’m like freaking out…

@Zelda: Yes I did. Do you know if maybe USC says you’re borderline but the individual school really likes you that it’s possible they may fight to get you in? I’m sure there are a lot of people applying for the program I did but despite being fairly qualified for the program itself (not sure about USC though), I’m losing my confidence with each passing day.

And a general question (not necessarily to Zelda): I sent in my Financial Aid stuff a while ago but a couple of items are “still being processed”. Is this a definite rejection or do they have a lot of Financial Aid things to take care of for the kids accepted in January that the FA office is taking a while to get to mine?

Thanks in advance! USC is above and beyond my first choice so I’m a little on edge this week.

Scholarship candidates discovered their acceptances through the RSVP system this year. The day that decisions were mailed, our USC connect accounts said “Enrollment Commitment” in an extra box (so that when we received decisions the website would be set up). In my opinion, the best way to discover if you’ve been accepted is to check your USC Connect account every once in a while.

How many freshman applications did USC receive?

if i live in the south, when could i expect to receive the admissions decision in the mail?

thanks

How many freshman applications did USC receive?

According to the link below, they received 35,630 for the Fall term. This is a slight increase over the previous year. Georgia Girl’s estimate that they will send nearly 30,000 letters of regret probably includes Spring applicants as well.

[Fall Applications Up Slightly at USC - USC News](http://uscnews.usc.edu/university/fall_applications_up_slightly_at_usc.html)

Does anyone know approximately how many spring admits they take? Is it in the thousands or just in the hundreds?

See, I was frightened when I was told at the tours I went on “USC has gotten the most applications it’s ever seen.” only to see it’s just 25 more from the article.

That’s still a LOT of competition…

USC’s admit rate is 24%. So out of the 35,000 or so applicants, 8300 or so will receive acceptance. For freshman, they should “only” send out approximately 27,000 not 30,000 regrets. I know, it’s still a lot, but that’s 3000 more acceptances…which, let’s face it, sounds slightly better and gives more kids hope.

jshain,

PLEASE NOTE the date on the article!!! That is from last year!! For the freshmen class that will enter in the fall of 2011 SC received 38,000 applications. This is from an article in the NY Times. That is 38,000. Applications for the freshmen class were up slightly over 6%.

The target class is 2600. SC accepts a higher number as students do choose to enroll at other colleges. Last year more accepted than expected and the class was over 2900+.

In another article it stated SC would admit 22% of the applicants for the class entering in August of 2011.

I will write more on this subject later today.

Oh, that’s makes more sense. There goes the extra 3000 acceptances!

Georgia Girl, Thanks for clarifying this date oversight on my behalf. I’m “behind the times” in more ways than one…
