When is the last time to take the SAT for a senior, list of schools applying included

I am applying to

-UNC Chapel Hill
-Rutgers
-Ramapo
-NYU
-University of Michigan

All schools ,except Rutgers ( December 1 due date), have a January due date for its Regular Admissions.

I took the SAT as a junior in may and I took it this November as a senior. I still didn't like my score from November and I signed up for a wait list for the December SAT.

My guidance counselor said January was good but February was too late. I screwed up by not studying during vacation in the summer.

I will get all of my admissions in by the due date but I need to know if I can still take the test January or later.

Thanks.

Rutgers has a Dec 1 application deadline and all supporting materials, including test scores are due by Dec 15. As result Nov is the last test date. However, if you apply in time and send a test score in time, you may send another test later and if it arrives before a decison has been made on you it may be considered. Although anything beyond the Dec test is unlikely to have any chance to arrive before a decison is made on you. Also, despite the app deadline, Rutgers continues to accept apps after Dec 1 and into Feb. However, anyone who applies after Dec 1 or fails to get required supporting materials in by Dec 15 will still be considered for admission if the program they are seeking admission to still has openings after decisions are made for those who applied by Dec 1 and got all necessary materials in by Dec 15.

NYU wants test completed by the Dec tests. However, if you get everything in including a test score by earlypart of Jan, you can still try to update your file with a new test score such as Jan test and if it arrives before decision is made on you, it could be considered. However, in any situation where you trying to update an already complete file with a late score such as Jan you should assume the chances are not that high that the score will be in the college’s hands before a decison is made on you. As to the Feb ACT test, you should the chances are very low of it being considered.

Michigan’s app deadline is Feb 1, later than most colleges, but, unlike most colleges, it wants all supporting materials including test scores be in its hands by Feb 1, not just sent by that date, making the Dec test the last one that can be timely. as with Rutgers and NYU , you can attempt to update an already completed file with a later score but don’t assume it will necessarily get there before a decison is made on you.

UNC’s app deadline is Jan 10 and it wants supporting materials including test scores in by 3 weeks thereafter, meaning Dec is the last test that can be timely submitted. As with the other colleges, if you get a test score in by that time, you may try to update your already completed file with a later test.

Rampano app deadline is March 1 meaning the SAT Jan test can get there in time but to assure that occurs, you should send the score blind by identifying the college in your test application as one to automatically receive scores upon release (that results in the fastest form of delivery and scores are often delivered even a day or two before you even get them online.

@drusba, I’m assuming you were able to find all that information on deadlines and requirements on the school’s web sites?
