Steadily rotate the pencil by hand or hold it still while it's being sharpened by an electric sharpener?

I don't use regular pencils often, but when I do (AP exam time), I always return to my old habit of twisting the pencil inside the sharpener. Not sure why, but I can't help but do it. Anyone else do this?

With the old pencil sharpeners, if you didn’t rotate the pencil it would sharpen unevenly, and one side would have that layer of wood over it while the other didn’t, which was annoying.

I have a grudge against mechanical pencil sharpeners. During state testing, it wouldn’t properly sharpen my pencil and the tip kept breaking. It got down to about 2 inches before it finally worked.

I honestly can’t remember the last time I used a non-mechanical pencil, but I always would use electric pencil sharpeners. Those things really were loud.
