When should I apply? ED1 or ED2?

Well, I know for sure that Pomona College is my first choice. However, I'm an average kid. =(

I'm counting on my ACT scores to get me in because my SAT/SATII scores are truly horrid. However, my ACT test is on 10/25 while EDI deadline is 11/1. Will they accept my October scores? Also, I won't know my scores, so it's a VERY big gamble. I'm really confident that I will get 30+ though.

9th: 3.7 - English honors
10th: 3.0 - AP environmental science, English honors, world history honors
11th: 4.4 - AP European history, AP Statistics, AP psychology (huge upward trend?)
12th: ? - no AP classes thanks to budget cuts... The classes I applied for were either full or were canceled due to too less people.

GPA (10+11 grade) - about 3.5 UW / 3.7 W
Rank - Not sure yet, I'll find out later.

Awards? None. :(

It looks like I'm asking for a chance, but I'm really asking whether I should apply EDI or EDII. :\ I know Pomona College is a HUGE reach. In fact, I know I don't stand a chance against the other applicants, but it is truly my dream school.

Also, what would some target schools be?

Thanks in advance!

Oh... I also qualified for CSF (California Scholarship Federation) from freshmen to junior year. I'm pretty sure I'll get it my senior year as well. I wonder if that helps.

If you haven't toured Pomona yet, then I would recommend you do that this fall. Schedule an interview at the same time and you'll be ahead of the curve!

It's okay feeling like you're average, because you're probably not! A college community needs to be comprised of all kinds of students, and if you feel that you can contribute to the diversity, then that's what counts. You'll probably feel better if you apply after you get your test scores, so you might want to consider EDII.

As for other target schools - it all depends on where you want to go. Do you want to stay in California or go out of state?

Thanks Little Mother. : )

The location of college doesn't really matter to me. I'm just not sure what a target school might be.
