I'm a junior with a 1980 (600 CR, 700 M, 680 W) but I want a 2100/2200+ before November so I can hopefully apply EA. When should I take the SAT again? How about SAT IIs?

1) They have the SAT’s on I think may, june, october and november. Maybe take it once on June, and if you’re satisfied with your results, then stop taking :D. Otherwise, you can maybe take the SAT one more time on November/October.

SAT II’s largely depend on the school you are applying to. If you’re applying to competitive schools like Harvard, I think you need at least 2-3 SAT Subject Tests. Some schools, such as MIT, which has a strong focus in Science and Math, REQUIRE that you have SAT Subject Tests in math and science.

There are SAT I tests in January, March, and June.

Take 2-3 SAT II’s, I think the next test day is in May(check collegeboard). Most top schools only require 2, the only ones that require 3 off the top of my head are Boston college and Georgetown. That is, assuming that top colleges are what you are looking into. I highly suggest that you don’t wait until Nov. to take the SAT I again. Take it in march or june…waiting the entire summer to do it won’t help and probably hurts. Also, it gives you another opportunity to take it again if you want. Plus, I know my school requires everyone to hand in transcript transfer requests and counselor recommendation requests like in october/nov, so if you relying on your next SAT score to determine where you will be applying, you will have a tough time doing so if you take it Nov. of senior year, (you will be behind the ball).
