I took the SAT for the first time in March and got a 2290. I was hurt mostly by math (low 700s). I want a 2300+ because 23 looks nicer than 22 :), and preferably 2340ish. Should I take it in May if I won't have time to prepare any more? Or am I better off waiting until October so I have the summer to boost math? Thanks, y'all!

Also, does anyone have any suggestions on how to get a math score that's low 700s to mid or high 700s? Seems tough to improve a lot at that level since it's only like 3-4 questions, so advice is welcome.

Cough (anyone?)

my only advice would be to really focus on getting the easy and medium ones right on the actual test, that way you get every one of those right, and then practice mainly with the harder questions, because i'm in the same boat as you (710 M), and my mistakes usually are stupid ones towards the beginning, and not enough practice on the hard ones.
