When to Take the ACT?

I am an incoming junior and I was wondering when would be the best time to take the test (I know that might strange, but I am not sure if most people have found that they need to retake it)? I was planning to take it an April and June if I am unhappy with the first score. Should two tests be enough (I want to apply ED, so it will be risky to take it in the fall) or should I plan to take it earlier?

Take it when you feel you’re ready. If you plan on studying now go ahead and sign up for it in September. That’ll give you a full year to get the score you want.

I would recommend taking it in the early fall or maybe December at the latest for the first time. Study for it and prepare yourself as best you can, but don’t stress about it too much because it will only be your first time.

Once you get your scores back, see which sections you are lacking in and then prepare yourself accordingly. It is good that you are starting off early so that you have plenty of time to improve your scores rather than waiting until the spring of your junior year to take it for the first time.
