when will financial aid pay for tuition?

my tuition still shows as being owed, when will my financial aid pay for it? i have already accepted it. btw, do I need to do a master promissory note for every semester?

eventually your financial aid will be disbursed and you can pay for it then, there is this thing called a deferment that you can use to pay for your tuition later if you get your financial aid after the due date of tuition, this goes the same for housing also. So youll be fine! As for the master promissory note, i don’t think you do. Someone correct me if im wrong.

about a week from the start of classes

Usually financial aid posts the day after drop/add ends. For fall, classes start on a Monday. Drop add ends at the end of the fourth day (midnight), in this case Thursday, and usually aid posts on the fifth day–Friday. Leftover money goes to your bank account (if you have a Suntrust account AND sign up for this online on secure apps) the next business day, which would be Monday. Bright Futures is also posted on the fifth day–day after drop/add. Florida Prepaid posts earlier (even though the check does not arrive for weeks after the term starts). If aid that is listed on your financial aid page posts later than that, as long as it is listed on your financial aid page your fees will be deferred until they are paid. The only fee that is NOT automatically deferred is your meal plan. You have to pay a fee for deferral and set this up at seminoledining.com You can set up a deferment account for books at BOTH the university bookstore AND at Bills bookstore in person when you buy books.

For summer 2011 it will pay out on July 5th. For fall 2011 it will pay out September 5th. At least that is what we were told in orientation.

Lkr, what semester are you talking about? Fall? Summer?

For Fall, financial aid will pay tuition the Friday before Labor Day (September 2), and any leftover financial aid will be deposited in FSUCard accounts at Suntrust on September 6.

For Summer C, financial aid will be paid the Friday before Independence Day (July 1), and any leftover financial aid will be deposited on July 5.

Both of these dates of course are impacted by a federal holiday (if July 4 or September 5 weren’t holidays, money would be deposited on the Monday in question).

Remember, you need to take at least 6 credits for summer financial aid to work. And 12 credits for fall or spring.

Not true about Fall and Spring. You only have to take 6 credits to be eligible for financial aid. The difference is that below 12 credits you aren’t considered a full-time student, and as such your financial aid is reduced accordingly. You only get 1/2 of your grants and scholarships for 6 credits and only 3/4 of them for 9 credits.
