My daughter, an incoming freshman, took 4 college courses while in high school but those credits have not been posted to her Univ of SC transcript as far as we can see. Is anybody else experiencing this as well? For experienced parents/students, when can we expect to see those credits posted?

Sometimes stuff like this doesn’t show up on line until after semester starts - I think it’s low on priority right now. Just have D follow up on it after she’s been here a few weeks.

My d (who will be sophomore) came in last year with 41 college credits. I was very anxious last year because it took a little while for all of them to post.(some showed up much earlier than others) Eventually ALL of those credits were transferred in and she’s now technically a “junior”. It was well into the fall semester before they all showed up on her transcript. I had called several times early in the semester and was told that priority is given to making sure that all summer courses are posted first, especially for students who will be graduating in December, which makes sense. I would wait until September and maybe follow up with an email or phone call or better yet have D f/u as scmom12 suggested, but I wouldnt worry too much about it. I am sure they will be posted sometime during first semester. Also, certain classes have to go through the individual department. I’m pretty sure some of my d’s math and science courses had to be approved individually through those depts,as did her Spanish classes.

I agree–I definitely want my daughter to do the following up. I just wanted to know what the “usual procedure” for transfer credits was here at USC. My son’s college does things differently. Thanks for the words of reassurance that these things simply take time!

My S is an incoming Freshman and has 55 credits from AP classes. His credits are showing up under the transcript page on Self Service Carolina.

^I think APs show up quicker than transfer credit since they are automatic and sometimes transfers have to be checked out a little closer in some cases - probably especially from OOS colleges/community colleges. As NJmom said, some have to be cleared by individual departments. It’s definitely a benefit to have those APs show up so soon - sophomore priority going into football season! And higher priority in registering for spring classes.

That makes sense, and it is a tough time of year with vacations and everything as well. So as you said before it is probably not on the top of the priority list.

^^ Also, something to be aware of with the transfer credits (not AP)…at USC the grade comes with the credits and goes into the cumulative GPA. Some students may like that and some may not, depending on how well they did.At my older D’s college, only the credits are posted and there is no effect on the GPA.

Thanks for the information!
