When do the early decision candidates find out?

I just got a call from a friend in Texas who got accepted today - the letters are out. I'd guess most people will know by this weekend.

thanks :-)

what do you mean early decision candidates? wouldn't deferred applicants hear the same time as RD applicants? Sorry for the confusion.

oh, lol, I meant regular decision... I feel like an idiot, lol, sorry :-P.

no problem. i know this is the wrong thread, but im sorry about the williams decisions (just got waitlisted). i know you and i applied to almost all the same schools ... i guess all we can do is just keep up hope.

Thanks man... regardless of the thread topic, that was a nice post, I appreciate it. Keep up hope! You could very well get in!

By the way, how does a waitlist work? I mean don't msot schools have you enroll by May 1st, but you don't hear back from the waitlist until ater that right? So how's it work?

hey -- we gotta stick together, right?

Waitlist... everyone accepted replies by may 1st. They have a certain yield in mind. If it is under that number, they accept however many from the waitlist it requires to get that yield. Waitlistees basically accept the fact that they enroll in another school to meet the may 1st deadline, but by agreeing to be on the list, you say that if room opens up, you'd take it, (and almost def. lose your original deposit). Then wherever you originally enrolled would probably take someone from their waitlist... etc etc. It's not a pretty picture. Schools put anywhere from like 200 - 1000 on their waitlist and accept anywhere from zero to like 60 , so you never know if you'd be accepted. I'm probably going to sign up for all of mine anyway, just because i love the schools.

Where else are you waiting to hear from?

Regarding Bowdoin regular decision letters, I was told by Bowdoin Admissions that the letters will be mailed on Fri, April 1. No email or online access is available. You have to wait for the US Postal Service to deliver. I don't know how anyone could have gotten a regular decision response already, as was indicated earlier in this thread.

i have no idea either. thanks for the update though. Now I know when to panic... Good luck everyone!

My friend was a part of the Bowdoin Diversity Weekend (not sure if that's exactly what its called) so maybe they sent some of those letters early, I'm not exactly sure.

has anyone from CA received their Bowdoin letter?

From the Bowdoin website:
