i can't find the status of my financial aid with this new system.
everywhere i click i get redirected to the blue myfsu page whcih says
"Student Financial account information is unavailable in this system until early July 2013. For details related to your account statement, including balances, transactions, and disbursement information, please use the "Account Statement" link in Blackboard.
For questions related to your student account, please contact Student Financial Services at SFS@admin.fsu.edu."

I mean do i seriously have to wait until july to know ANYTHING? even if my fafsa was even received??

I think what it’s saying is to use blackboard for the financial information because it won’t be on myFSU until July. So it’ll be on Blackboard > Secure Apps > Financial Aid Student Toolkit. That’s what I gathered from the Financial Aid webpage

I think I have it even worse. I just get a page that says, “Our records show you have no financial aid information in our system at this time.” But I sent my FAFSA in February! The FA Office is being beyond unhelpful too, not responding to my emails…

mmmgirl, my daughter’s says the same thing. I think it just takes awhile before FAFSA goes through, because that is what it’s saying for all the schools my daughter has applied to. I wouldn’t worry about it too much - it probably just hasn’t been processed yet.

For those wondering, it appears that FSU has begun to disburse financial aid offerings for 2013-14.

I got an email about it, and there’s some financial aid information available on the myFSU portal, even though I’m graduating this semester. I am really confused by that one.

I too received this notificaiton; however, when I follow the links and log into review my award, it gives me an error saying I don’t have an Omni account. I don’t think the links in this e-mail are actually working yet.

2.In order to activate your ID you need your EMPLID, but chances are you don’t know it because I hadn’t seen mine until I was trying to activate my FSUID.

If by some chance you do know it, just complete all of the fields, if not click on where it says “for help with EMPLID and FSUID account management.”

On the section that says “Creating An FSUID Requires Your EMPLID,” go down to where it says “current student” and click on “EMPLID lookup toolkit.”

5.type in your email that you used when applying to fsu and you should get you EMPLID

6.Now that you have your EMPLID, type it in to the FSUID activation page and fill out the rest of the fields.Once you submit it, your FSUID should be activated and you will need to set up a password. This will be your new method of signing in to fsu accounts, you no longer will use your email that you used when applying.

You can now log on to your fsu account with your new ID and password and you should be able to check you financial aid award.

Have you created your FSUID yet? If you haven’t, you can’t access anything.

Everything worked just fine for me. I was able to see the financial aid that they have preliminarily awarded me (oddly enough, $0 of which I would actually qualify for next year anyway!), which is why I am really confused by everything.

Pasbal- I think something weird is up too. My daughters financial aid awarded is slightly MORE than what our need is after EFC. Not what I consider our need but what FSU considers our need. This varies widely from where I believe both of us were sitting this time last year when awards were less.

Like I said, I’m graduating this semester. I only filled out a FAFSA for grad school way early because one of the programs I was interested in recommended doing it- and since I had applied to FSU for grad school, I added them to save myself the hassle in case I needed to later.

I know it says it’s preliminary and everything, but it just makes no sense. Their system shouldn’t award things you aren’t going to qualify for (for example, no matter what, I don’t get Bright Futures after this semester, so why would they even offer it? I’m also not eligible for Stafford Loans after this semester either, so why would they offer several thousand dollars worth?). Seriously, my entire financial aid offering for next year- nearly $16k- is stuff I’m not eligible for anyway. That’s a major issue in my eyes.

I can’t tell whether it’s the myFSU system being screwy, or whether the people in Financial Aid just don’t know what they are doing right now. It’s funny how they say that your financial information won’t be available till July, but everything is in there for me if you look…
