where can a 3.9gpa go?

I'm in a California CC and have a 3.9gpa hoping to transfer as a bus admin or econ if a certain school does not provide that. I'll be applying to UCs but I have no idea outside of the UCs where I would have a chance. I have little work experience, have not taken SAT/ACT(yet?), nothing exciting background("second-generation Ruritanian" according to wiki), but I am poor as hell(that's good right? :) ).

Anyways, are there any schools that come to mind? Any advice would be really appreciated.

Thanks

i have kind of the situation as you, student of ccc too, second year, gpa 4.0. 3.9 is pretty solid in cali, enough to knock up the doors of almost all the UCs, but you may need to write a good Personal Statement, well, at least not below the average.

not sure how serious cc would be considered outside of the state. You may want to try some private school in top 30 with 3.9 gpa (I don’t see a point of giving up Berkeley for those lower ranking school). but lots of the private schools require SAT which is pretty annoying… Give a shot at NYU, Cornell, Brown, U of Mich, even UPenn (why not), but make sure you’ll able to pay your tution, none of those school are any cheap… that’s why UCs are the best choice we have for the most of times.

Thanks mattinber!

Wow, looked through the different schools and the requirements each of them asks for is intimidating. They definitely want more than the UCs. The application times are very different as well. Is there anything I should know when applying to out of state schools?

On top of what we need to do for applying to the UCs, what have you found I should be looking out for? Basically I need to go through each university’s sites and individually go through what they want. Daaannngggg

A lot of places you can get into with that GPA. You should definitely get into one of the UC’s wit NO problem.
