I go to a CC in California and I want to major in Business (acct.) I'm looking at bunch of schools including UC and CSU, but I want to broad my list of schools.

With 3.7~3.8 GPA, where should I apply to? I understand schools like UVA/UTA are high reach with 3.7~3.8 GPA..:(

I just want to know where I am and where can I be.

Also with that GPA, do I have shot at Merage/CSUF/SDSU?

You can almost go to the moon with that GPA, dude… but if you’re shooting for more college, you could probably apply anywhere. Not bad at all :)

Bus major With 3.7~3.8 GPA?
When I started researching schools, I looked into UIUC/UVA/UTA/UMAA, but I found out that all those schools need above 3.8 GPA and really strong EC & essay.

And I also heard that someone got rejected from SDSU with like 4.0 GPA, so I’m kind of worried now lol

FYI, I’m trying to transfer from a community college and my major is Business.

I don’t know if I’m getting everything right… b/c I don’t have really decent source, but I heard that in order to get into UCI Merage, you need at least 3.8 GPA.

Like you, I have a 3.71 GPA. As a business major you should be very competitive in many UCs and CSUs as long as you have completed a substantial amount of units. If you are thinking of private schools or out of state, some schools articulate your GPA differently. For example, my 3.71 GPA is looked at as a 3.39 at USC because some of my classes don’t articulate :(

I just wanted to let you know that the person who said you’re fine for UVA is wrong. UVA’s McIntire School is ranked as one of the top five business programs in the nation; it was ranked higher than Wharton when I applied for transfer from UMiami. They take maybe 10 transfers, one of the most selective programs.

I’m not sure how UM-AA operates, but at UNC-CH, I know that you must spend at least one semester in the regular college (Arts and Science) and then apply for transfer to their B-School (Kenan-Flagler). Admissions for transfer students is highly selective, since you’re competing with the majority of students who have been at UNC and have higher institutional GPAs.

As far as schools go, I’d say USC, UC Berkeley (Haas), UCLA (for California schools) and some out of states that are worth a look are Emory, Wash-U, NYU Stern, UW-Madison, Cornell for AEM and it depends if you want public/private and what you want to concentrate in.
