My D was accepted today for Fall 2018, and she wants to sign up for housing right away. She has to rank her choices. There isn’t much information about the dorms on CC or anywhere else compared to some schools, and there aren’t many YouTube videos either. Does anyone know where to look?
Unfortunately, I also don’t know where to find virtual videos. But being a first year student living in the dorms, I would go with the corresponding dorm that your daughter’s major goes along with. She will find it much easier to make friends and get help from people in the same field that she is doing.
But in general, looking at the “structure” of the dorms. The brick buildings (Montecito, Aliso, Alamito, Encinitas) are all a rectangular shaped room with beds on the sides parallel to each other (depending on if it is a tripple, then the beds are lifted). The “newer” buildings are Cerritos and Palmitas where one room has for some weird reason 5 walls (imagine a rectangle and a triangle pasted together). A lot of people dislike that (the walls are also not out of bricks). BUT if your daughter goes for a double then the space actually in Cedritos/ Palmitas is bigger than the ones of the other brick buildings and I would highly recommend that. If she’s going for a tripple, I would tend more to the brick buildings. BUT again I would consider her major. Say she’s a business major then I would recommend Encinitas, if she’s Engineering then Palmitas. ALSO, one huge factor to consider is the distance to the dining places/ the lecture buildings. For that reason, I would not recommend Aliso personally.
Any chance freshmen can get singles in the suites? We requested on the application for my S and still haven’t heard anything.
@briaghtoasis housing started posting this week. Not sure if you heard anything yet but check your cpp email.
Does any know if the suites are co-ed like the halls? TIA!
